Eastbourne Hotels
Britain's sunniest and most popular resort.
The number of hotels is small because inclusion demands rigorous, constant and robust scrutiny.
Eastbourne's elegant seafront is the envy of all other British seaside towns.
Two recent films bear testimony to this.
"Brighton Rock" is largely set in Eastbourne not Brighton!
Ironically, the magnificent art deco lido in the film "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" appears as 'Eastbourne Lido' but
is actually Saltdean's although most of the film is shot in Eastbourne.
As if Eastbourne town itself does not have enough thrills and excitement, a short distance away is the splendour of Beachy
Head and The Seven Sisters. A memorial to Bomber Command was recently unveiled on Beachy Head - fittingly, as this was
probably the last sight of their homeland many of those gallant aircrews ever saw.
Not forgetting the many U.S. and Commonwealth crews.
A memorial to an American Liberator bomber crew stands, and is lovingly tended on Butts Brow. where the aircraft fell, returning
from a raid over Germany, badly damaged and unable to climb the few feet necessary to crash land.
For an eye-witness account of this go to Ruthless The Royal Sovereign light tower is clearly visible on the horizon. This commemorates Nelson's
flagship and her commander Admiral Collingwood who took over on Nelson's death and led the fleet to victory.
For much of the battle the dismasted "Royal Sovereign" was under tow, her guns still blazing!
Eastbourne has its own naturist beach.
Nude sun bathing is on a secluded sandy beach near the towering majesty of Beachy Head.
Naturists enjoy complete privacy among the many rocks and caves which make up the foot of breath-taking white cliffs.
Eastbourne naturist beach is in a unique location only accessible by foot. (No disabled access except by sedan chair or similar!
